Happy Feature Friday! This week, we are so excited to feature Demetri Tripolitis! Dimitri is an animation major who is graduating next semester! As a kid, Dimitri loved to draw and had a passion for storytelling. When deciding what to go to school for, he naturally went for animation since it combined his two loves of art and storytelling. Some of Dimitri’s biggest accomplishments include having his art shown at the Camden County College Art Gallery and designing logos for both the Cherry Hill American Little League and the Lighting Softball team. Out of all of his work, his thesis project is his favorite one and has drawn a lot of inspiration from iconic cartoons such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Danny Phantom, and Invader Zim. We can’t wait to see the finished results of his Thesis project in the spring and wish him the best of luck after graduation!

This week, the spotlight shines on Joey Lebron for another feature on Friday! Joey is a music major with a concentration in Composition/Music Technology! For Joey, choosing his major was almost too easy. He has been making music since he was 12 years old and has always loved playing music, both by himself and in groups. In his time here at Rutgers, he has had the opportunity to direct 3 different shows in the Walter K. Gordon Theater. He has directed 2 concerts for the RU Project Band as a freshman and sophomore. This year, as part of Joey’s independent study with Dr. Julianne Baird, he is directing Proof of Concept. This concert is special to Joey because he had a lot more creative freedom with this concert than he did directing the other two. Joey has been really inspired by Prof. Jojo Streater, who encouraged him to help direct his first concert as a freshman. When composing music, Joey draws a lot of inspiration from popular artists and bands like Pink Floyd and Mk.gee.
